The 17 ¾ hour race in Fischbach is one of the most famous races in southern Germany. On the weekend of September 10th and 11th, 2022, the Fischbach moped long-distance team race will be held for the 11th time in the idyllic community of Fischbach near Niedereschach in the Black Forest. The event is organized by the Fischbach youth club, the Guggenmusik “Ohrwürmer” and the Musikverein Fischbach eV.
The long-distance race is completed in teams of up to five drivers, each of whom can be supported by two mechanics. You drive with a moped with a maximum of 49cc. The maximum speed is 50 km/h. The frame and engine must originally come from a moped. Unlike in public transport, tuning is desired here!
It starts on Saturday, September 10th at 6:15 p.m. after technical inspection of the mopeds and qualifying. Twilight begins just an hour after the start. The route, which is approximately 2.2 km long, changes its character. The off-road and asphalt route becomes much more demanding. Good lighting is as essential as a long-lasting engine and fit drivers. There is also a lot of activity in the pit lanes to keep the vehicles running.
Driving continues until 12 p.m. on Sunday. The winning team will be chosen at a subsequent award ceremony. The winner is whoever completes the most laps on their moped in 17 ¾. In the past there have been up to 366 laps, which amounts to a total of almost 800 km.
After four long years of Corona dry spell, we are happy when the engines are roaring again. We wish all participants a good preparation period, lots of perseverance and a fantastic race weekend!
